West Virginia Junior College and Mon Health Medical Center took their partnership to another level Thursday when they unveiled the Ron and Stephanie Stovash Mobile Nursing Lab at Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.
To end a week of celebrating National Hospital Week, the hospital invites the public to tour the nursing lab and join in outdoor activities from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today. There will be inflatables, food trucks, music and ticket giveaways to Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan concerts.
The Mobile Nursing Lab is a 38-foot vehicle composed of two simulation hospital rooms and a control room, outfitted with advanced equipment for both students and practicing nurses to advance their skills. Robotic mannequins are programmed to simulate real-world experiences students will encounter in their classes and careers.
In April 2022, WVJC and Mon Health announced a collaboration on the WVJC School of Nursing at Mon Health program — an accelerated 18-month nursing degree designed to provide hands-on experience for students and streamline the employment process following graduation.
The lab is named for Ron and Stephanie Stovash. Ron is a former Mon Health System board chair and current board member.
The lab was made possible through donations made by the Stovashes, The Health Plan and the Hazel Ruby McQuain Trust.
