Sampy Hardin

Sampy Davis Hardin Jr., 71, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Welch, attended Welch High School, and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Forestry.
While living in Bluefield, after college, he learned the trade of screen printing and met his future wife and best friend, Jane. They were married, returned to Morgantown, and in 1982 he started Davis & Lee, a respected screen printing company that has served the community for over 40 years. He also owned Fan’s Choice in downtown Morgantown for many years.
Sampy was known to his customers as a capable businessman and trusted friend. He was a soft spoken and kindhearted man who was fiercely loyal and cared deeply for his friends and family. He spent many years caring lovingly for his parents in their last years. He had an adventurous soul and enjoyed extreme sports, taking up snowboarding and mountainboarding with his children, even in his later years. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, brother, and uncle, but most of all as an exceptional father who will be deeply missed by his three children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sampy Hardin Sr. and Kathryn Hardin. He is survived by his wife, Jane Brock Hardin; his daughter, Heather Hardin; his son, Sampy Hardin III; his son Brock Hardin and wife Hayley; his grandson, James Hardin; his sister, Kathy Hardin; his nieces, Jenny Wrobleski and Carrie Stranko; his nephew, Timothy Stockdale; and his great nieces and nephews. Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Sampy is scheduled to be interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in a private ceremony. A celebration of life for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.
