Mon Health System is celebrating National Nurses Week through Friday, and National Hospital Week through Saturday, with celebrations across the health system.
This week is an opportunity to highlight the innovative ways healthcare staff support the needs of patients and show appreciation for their continued dedication and commitment to enhancing the health of communities.
Across Mon Health System, leaders have planned celebratory events for employees which will include themed dress up days, outdoor activities such as giant inflatables, picnics, food trucks, pet therapy, and other engaging activities. Gifts, notes of gratitude and more will also be distributed to staff throughout the week to show appreciation.
“Nurses Week and Hospital Week are important times for us to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of our employees who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care to our patients each and every day,” said Katie Davison, chief human resources officer at Mon Health System. “We are proud to stand beside our employees and show appreciation for their dedication and hard work this week and always. Hospital and Nurses Week is 24/7/365 in our eyes.”
Mon Health Medical Center is also proud to celebrate its 80th anniversary this year, as it was officially established by an act of the Monongalia County Court in 1943. Staff were encouraged to join in anniversary celebrations by dressing up for 80s Day Monday.
“From our nurses and physicians to our administrative staff and support teams, every member of our staff plays a critical role in delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes. This week and year-round, we express our gratitude and show our support for our remarkable staff,” said David Goldberg, president and CEO of Mon Health System and executive vice president of Vandalia Heath.
To end the celebratory week, Mon Health System and the West Virginia Junior College will unveil the new Ron and Stephanie Stovash Mobile Nursing Lab on wheels, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. Mon Health System staff and the public are invited to join for tours, music, food trucks and ticket giveaways to Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan.
Following the kickoff event, the Mobile Nursing Lab will hit the road for tours and a chance to meet with the Mon Health System Recruiting Team.
It will finish the tours at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 18.
