Delores Hartsell

Delores “Dee” M. (Wolfe) Hartsell Smith passed from this life on April 26, 2023. She was known for her intelligence, beauty, love of family and reading. She was born at Horseshoe Run, July 10, 1931, a daughter of the late Clinton and Irene Estep Wolfe. She was a resident of Arthurdale, from the age of 3, until dementia stole her independence. Her husband and high school sweetheart, Robert L. Hartsell, preceded her in death on March 16, 1968.

Needing to support her young girls when widowed, Dee worked as an administrative assistant for several businesses, including J.W. Ruby Industries, and Accountant Carl Marsh. She earned an associate degree from Fairmont State College in 1986. She was a lifelong member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Arthurdale, where she served as treasurer, deacon, FETCH volunteer and choir alto. She had been an active member of the Arthurdale Heritage Inc. and a Mary Kay consultant. Dee was proud to serve her community as an election poll worker for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Tapha Liston and partner Denise Kisner, of Arthurdale, Kerry Grantham and husband William, of Middleway, and Robbie Martin, of Reedsville; five granddaughters, Janna Dee Lennon and Robby, of Front Royal, Va., Pamala Dooly and Shane, of Morgantown, Jody Taylor and Ryan, of Inwood, Theresa Cavender, of Kingwood, and Natalie Totaro and Kevin, of Jerrettsville, Md.; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Wolfe, of Louisville, Ohio; two nephews, Randall Weaver, of Arthurdale, and Roger Wolfe, of Severn, Md.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Weaver, in 2013; and one nephew, Larry Wolfe, in 2017.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. Funeral services will be conducted at the Community Presbyterian Church of Arthurdale, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 with the Rev. David D. Spence officiating. Interment will follow at the Arthurdale Cemetery.
