Fire killed the lone occupant of an Osage home early Thursday morning.
The 911 call reporting a house fire at 18 Tunnel Street was received by MECCA 911 at 3:59 a.m.
Granville Fire Chief Butch Renner said Granville had a unit at the scene at 4:05 a.m.
“They arrived to a heavily involved structure,” Renner said. “Apparently the neighbor saw the smoke and fire and called it in.”
Renner confirmed the fire resulted in a fatality but was unable to provide details about the victim.
“The fire marshal came in and took over the investigation. The investigation is still open, so that information would need to come from them,” he said.
Renner said personnel from the GFD were at the scene until just before 10 a.m.
Volunteer units from Cassville, Westover and Star City also responded, as did Mon EMS and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.
According to information available through the Monongalia County Assessor’s office, the 720-square-foot home is owned by Josstan LP, a rental and leasing business based on Solomon Road.
