She taught at Grove City College and was awarded a National Science Foundation grant, which she fulfilled at the University of Georgia, and after returning to West Virginia University, completed a master’s degree, edited textbooks and taught mathematics in a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years.
Judy was a self-proclaimed “mountain mama,” a WVU sports enthusiast and a friend to all. Although Judy taught with distinctive skill, her true passions were her faith, her family, her friends and helping found a Christian school. She was a marvelous woman and will be remembered for her profound contributions and her unwavering faith.
Her family and friends invite you to join in celebrating Judy and rejoicing in her newfound freedom and joy. Visitation will be held at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 16. Visitation will continue at CMA Church of Morgantown 308 Elmhurst St. Morgantown, WV 26505, from 3 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4 p.m. on Monday with a dinner to follow. Judy will be laid to rest at WV National Cemetery on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Those wishing to be a part of the funeral procession are asked to be at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home no later than 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, a namesake scholarship fund is being established to encourage women pursuing STEM degrees. However, flowers are still welcomed at the funeral home.
