Spring cleaning doesn’t have to stop at your front door.
The City of Morgantown wants to take that tidying energy outside with its Love Where You Live and Work Community Clean-Up.
Hosted along with Main Street Morgantown and the Mon River Revitalization Task Force, volunteers will join forces on April 13 make the city a prettier place.
The cleanup is set for 1-4 p.m. at two locations.
Community members and businesses can meet at the Mountaineer Heritage Park location on Don Knotts Boulevard to help clean up the riverfront and rail-trail.
Free parking is available at the Mon River Trail parking lot beside the Auto Max.
City employees will meet at 430 Spruce St. to focus on downtown.
All volunteers will take part in litter cleanup, beautification efforts and more in the areas with the most need.
The City of Morgantown will provide gloves, bags and other supplies for those who need them. No registration is required to participate.
“We love working for the City of Morgantown and just want to give back to our community in a different way than we do in our normal roles. We would encourage our residents, community and neighborhood leaders and businesses to join us at one of these locations. If you can’t join us, show your own property or neighborhood some extra love. Together, we can make a difference,” said Assistant City Manager, Emily Muzzarelli.
If there is poor weather, the clean-up will be postponed or canceled. Members of the community will be notified via the City of Morgantown’s social media accounts.
“Spring is the chance for revitalization within our community,” Special Projects Coordinator Vanessa Reaves said. “Throughout this month, the city and other organizations will be hosting a variety of recycling and clean-up events for city residents to participate in.”
Reaves spearheads many of the ongoing sustainability projects that occur throughout the city.
