Lynwood Clark

Lynwood Rowe Clark, 87, entered Heaven with a noon tee time with Jesus, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from his home in Kingwood. He was born on July 5, 1935, the son of Bernadine and Evelyn Clark.

Lynwood graduated from Kingwood High School in 1953. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and was voted the Sweetheart of the Future Homemakers of America. He played football and baseball. He treasured his friends and enjoyed class reunions. Lynwood worked for Pittsburgh Valve and Sterling Faucet for 40 years. He also served his country for six years in the Army National Guard.

Lynwood and Shirley loved Western Square Dancing and camping. They camped numerous times with dancing friends and family. Their girls loved camping and their favorite trips were to Williamsburg, Va., Florida and especially Disney World.

He served as president of the Valley Lions Club. Lynwood was involved with the church as a Eucharistic minister, visited families to share the gospel and distribute Communion and he taught catechism. He worked with the church youth to help repair homes in Preston County during the summer. Lynwood was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years, he fried sausage on Thursdays for the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. Lynwood loved bowling and the many friendships formed throughout the years. He loved playing golf with friends, particularly Chuck Beatty and Bud Whetsell, at the Preston Country Club. Tuesday League couples cherished monthly dinners together.

Lynwood is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Clark. He is also survived by his daughters and their families including: Camille and Willie Western and their family; Adrian Western and Maggie George; Cody, Heather, Henleigh and Cole Western; and Bryant and Emily Western; Crystal Schneider and her family; Dayton, Beth, Mitchell Brown and Rowan Schneider; Jordan, Ashlee, Raelynn and Brynlee Schneider; Drue Schneider and Greg Kerere; Connie’s son, Sean Bernatowicz, M.J. Mullins, and Connor Bernatowicz; Corrine Clark and Chris Missimer and their family; Jocelynn, Matthew, and Knox Fike; Jenna Clark and Landry Lloyd; Mikhaila Missimer and Ryan Cretens; and Peyton Missimer.

Lynwood is also survived by a brother-in-law, Leonard and Jeanette Rosier, and sisters-in-law, Maxine Clark, Sue Clark and Marlyn Clark. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Lynwood was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Clark, in 2020; his parents, Bernadine and Evelyn Clark; in-laws, Dennis and Mary Rosier; and his siblings, Jack and Christine Clark, Miles Clark, Larry Clark, Loralli Clark and Lowell Clark.

Visitation with the Clark family will be held at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price Street, Kingwood, from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. The funeral mass will be held at St. Sebastian’s Roman Catholic Church, 322 East Main St., Kingwood, beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, 713 St. Joseph Church Road, Howesville.
