Leota McCauley

Leota Merle McCauley, 98 of Tunnelton, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Stonerise in Kingwood, with family by her side. She was born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Rowlesburg, daughter of the late Claudis Ellsworth and Exavia (Bolyard) Sigley.

Leota previously worked in housekeeping at Lake Hospital System and a textile plant as a machine operator in Painesville, Ohio. She loved crocheting, reading, growing flowers and attending church. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs.

She is survived by two nieces that cared for her, Judy Howard and Bill and Kim Harrison and Mike all of Tunnelton; one sister-in-law, Geneva Sigley, Ohio; and numerous additional nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Leota is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rockford McCauley in 1978; six sisters, Norma White Faulkner, Dorothy Maxwell, Alma Bolyard, Kathleen Miller, Shirley Milligan and Ella Jean Jenkins and one infant sister, Betty Jane Sigley; and six brothers, Lawrence Sigley, Claude J. Sigley, Ralph Sigley, Waldo Sigley, Jim Sigley and Clarence “Red” Sigley.

Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, April 3, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, with her nephew, Pastor Kenneth Sigley officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Fairmont. Bolyard Funeral Home is honored to serve the McCauley family.
