Rodney Chapman

Rodney Edward Chapman, 75, of 103 Grove St., Westover, passed away peacefully into the arms of angels, on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Rodney was born on Jan. 13, 1948, the son of the late Raymond and Bertha Chapman.

He was a 1967 graduate of University High School. He served a five year apprenticeship and became a Journeyman and a member of the United Association Local 152 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He often said, “I loved my job and miss it still.”

Rodney married Sharon Toothman on May 25, 1969. They are the parents of three sons: Ryan (Janel), of Dublin, Ohio, Evan (Kimberly) and Nathan (Holli), of Westover. Rodney was Grandpa to Andrew, Elizabeth and Ben of Dublin, Ohio, Makenzie, of Morgantown, and Kennedy of Pittsburgh. He was a PaPaw to Carter, of Westover. He enjoyed fishing with them at Dixon Lake, eating chocolate, cookies and ice cream and offering them rides in his red Mustang.

Rodney is survived by two sisters, Yvonne LeFerre, of American Canyon, Calif., and Sheila Miller, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; nephews, Rodney and Todd Miller and Brett Bolen, as well as nieces Stacey Bolen Dean and Beth Ann Bolen Brobst; and several great-nieces and nephews. Rodney is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Deronda Toothman, of Knightdale, N.C. Every warm, sunny morning, he joined his best friend, Dick Brake, fishing at Dixon Lake.

In addition to his parents, Rodney is preceded in death by one sister, Iris Bolen.

His family will gather for a private service. We invite family and friends to celebrate his life later this summer. The man who had his “talk with the Big Man” quietly loved so many. Please join us.
