Martha Lou Thompson, 84, of Laurel Point, passed away on Friday March 17, 2023, at Mon Health Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of the late Philip and Florence Harner. Martha was born on the family farm in Morgantown on Jan. 2, 1939.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Thompson Jr.; brother, Philip (Sonny); and infant sister, Sandra Sue.
She is survived by her baby boy, Earl Dee Thompson and fiancé Christine; four grandchildren, Maddie Renner (C.J.), Mari-Kate Thompson (Jessie), Amber Gennoy (Jonathan) and Thomas Gennoy; four great-grandchildren, Maisie and Sawyer Renner and Adilynn and Ahnna Hoopengarner; one brother, Richard Harner; and one sister, Jean Wilburn (Elwood).
Martha was a graduate of Morgantown High and worked at McVickers Pharmacy in Morgantown, worked a number of years at WVU as a secretary, and then worked at the Westover Post Office until retirement. She loved to crochet, sew and bake for her family and friends. Martha also loved to garden and enjoyed canning her efforts.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Thursday, March 23, with Pastor James Sabin officiating. Martha will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service.
