If you’ve got a hankering for some Samoas, or are craving a chocolatey Thin Mint — your wait won’t be long.
The Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council received thousands of boxes of cookies on Tuesday to distribute to the Morgantown area.
A total of 67,680 boxes Girl Scout cookie favorites — those signature Samoas, cool, tasty Thin Mints, shortbready Trefoils, peanutty Do-si-dos and more — will soon be delivered to customers in Monongalia, Marion and Taylor counties.
“Cookie deliveries are always such an exciting time because the 325 girls in this area get to receive the cookies that they’ve worked so hard to sell during the season,” said Beth Casey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond.
“This year our girls got to see real life situations like supply chain and labor supply shortages and how they affected a program that they look forward to each year. I am so proud of the resilience they have shown, pushing forward through these challenges. The best part is that we have Girl Scout cookies in hand, ready to be delivered to customers.”
Cookie sales at storefronts and other spaces around the region will begin this week. To find a cookie booth near you, use the locator at bdgsc.org.
Don’t need cookies for yourself? Consider ordering a few boxes as part of the Gift of Caring program, which are donated to military members, veterans and their families.
The Cookie Program began in 1917 as a way for troops to finance activities. Today, the program encourages girls to discover their inner leadership potential and use their earnings to create experiences for themselves and their troop — including travel, outdoor adventure, and science, technology, engineering and math programming.
Proceeds from the sale stay local and have led to support for animal shelters, food banks and more in communities — all while teaching girls crucial skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
However, girls’ cookie proceeds alone aren’t enough to power the Girl Scout Movement. Donors can donated anytime and support Girl Scouts at http://www.bdgsc.org/give.
