The 21st annual West Virginia Fishing, Hunting & Outdoor Sports Show is this weekend at Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park, 111 Mylan Park Lane.
Vendors will begin setting up Friday and the show will run 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
The two-day show was started in 2002 by Labeth Hall, who now runs the event for WVRC Media.
Vendors are coming from all over the U.S. as well as Canada and South Africa.
Set up in the 100,000-square-foot event center at Mylan Park, the show will feature 200 vendors and include boats, campers, trucks, tractors, ATV’s, guns, tons of ammo, fishing tackle, knives, jerky, archery, camo, rafting, zip-lining adventures, tree stands, deer lures, hunting gear and furs.
There also will be vendors who feature jewelry, outdoor-themed decor, cooking spices and seasonings, camo and self-defense items.
A Kidz Zone will feature birds from Laurel Fork Falconry, Smokey Bear and a movie theater. They can get their faces painted and watch a demonstration from Outer Rim Praxeum Lightsaber School.
Though they don’t travel as far as the vendors, Hall said the attendees also come from near and far — some driving as long as two hours to peruse the offerings.
New this year is a Saturday afternoon country concert with the Davisson Brothers Band at 4:30 p.m., followed by their buddy World Champion Turkey Caller Chris Walls doing a seminar.
The first 50 people each day will get a prize.
Tickets can be purchased at the door: $10 for adults, $2 for ages 6-12 and free for under 6.
There is a veterans’ discount after 4 p.m. Saturday, when they will be admitted for $5. Also on Saturday, WVU basketball fans can bring their game ticket and get in for $5.
Check out the prize table and register for a chance to win a Country Concert Series pair of tickets for three country concerts: Hank Williams Jr, Eric Church and Luke Bryan. There will also be a grand prize Colorado hunting trip with Almost Heaven Adventures and a fishing trip with Bear Lake Wilderness Camp in Canada.
