Russell Allen Cox, 43, of Morgantown, died at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He passed peacefully under the compassionate care of hospice surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023.
Allen as he best known, was born Dec. 11, 1979, in Morgantown son to Linda Austin Straight and Russell M. Cox.
Allen loved riding his bike all over the area and was quite the tinkerer. He retro fit several manual powered bikes with two-stroke engines to get him up the long and sometimes steep West Virginia hills. He will be missed by his friends and family.
Allen is survived by his mother, Linda Straight; his long-time girlfriend, Gloria Swiger; aunts and uncles, Donna and Larry Kisner, Barbara Trader and Donald and Carolyn Austin; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell M Cox; maternal grandparents, Ross and Edith Austin; and paternal grandparents, Forest and Wilma Cox.
Friends and family gathered at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday Feb. 27, 2023. Cremation will follow with a private inurnment of his ashes by the family.
