Shirley Linton

Shirley Lee Linton, 86, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Friday morning, Feb. 17, 2023, in Morgantown.

Shirley’s life has been devoted to serving God and caring for others. She lived with and cared for her grandmother in her youth before marrying Bruce D. Linton on July 25, 1951. They built a lovely home and raised three children. Shirley selflessly provided love and care for her grandparents, parents, husband and children throughout their lives. She worked hard and enjoyed keeping a nice home, gardening, canning, embroidering and was an excellent cook. Her homemade pies were everyone’s favorite. She was also a member of the Monongalia County CEOs Halleck women’s club. She is greatly loved and admired by her entire family, friends and community.

Shirley was a devoted servant of her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday school for many years, was a prayer warrior and an inspiration to many with her unwavering faith, wise counsel and kind heart. A sweeter soul cannot be found. She has been a member of the Morgantown Revival Center church for 68 years. Shirley was born July 18, 1936, in Morgantown, to parents Russell and Geraldine Trickett.
She is survived by her siblings, Russ Ervin Trickett and Prentis Wade and Karen Trickett; daughter, Beverly Hornbeck; sons, Bradley and Kathryn Linton, Michael Linton and Christina Z. Lanham; grandchildren, Brandon and Sara Linton, Becky and Khris Musgrove and Devon Linton; and great-grandchildren, Sequoia, Shannon, Savannah, Mazee, Dakota, Hunter and Briar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce D. Linton; sister, Norma Dean Winaught; son-in-law, Ronald L. Hornbeck; and granddaughter, Barbara Kayann Linton.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and aides of Amedysis for their loving and care, and to Judy who was the nighttime caregiver.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 with the Rev. Gary Weaver officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
