Thomas Alan Morris, who loved the Lord, was called home on Jan. 23, 2023, and will be desperately missed by his loving family and many friends.
He was born June 28, 1951, in Morgantown, to devoted parents, Virginia “Katie” and Norval Morris. He was blessed with loving grandparents, Clarence and Lettie May West and George and Wilma Morris, who are all deceased, and a sister, Carol, who (along with her husband Grant) remains to mourn his loss.
Tom thoroughly enjoyed growing up during the Baby Boom and attending First Ward Grade School, where he established many life-long friendships. He loved playing baseball, basketball and tennis, riding his bike and eating Reeses Cups from the corner store after his newspaper delivery. Tom was a very good student, earning excellent grades right through to his master’s in engineering at WVU.
He married Rebecca “Becky” Martin on Aug. 13, 1977, and they moved to Alliance, Ohio, for his job at B&W Research. They had three adorable children, Elizabeth Jane, Jessica Lyn and Timothy Adam, who he was so proud of and for whom he would do anything. Tom took up golf and resumed playing guitars for fun, but he always put his family first.
His job continued in the area under the company names of McDermott, Sofco, Rolls-Royce and Rolls-Royce/LG. In his retirement years, his greatest joy was to spend time with family, celebrating birthdays, holidays and vacations.
Mourning their loss is his wife, Rebecca; daughter Elizabeth (Mark) Rife; grandchildren, Miriam, Lillian and Catherine Rife; son, Timothy Morris; daughter, Jessica (Dwayne) Malone and Tegan Malone: step-grandchildren, Damien, Paige and Ashley Malone; sister, Carol (Grant) Standiford; sisters-in-law, Rachel (Scott) Hanks and Jill (Boyson) Ikitseng; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom loved children and animals, so the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions in Tom’s honor to go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Stark County Humane Society.
A brief memorial service was held at Union Avenue United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio 44601.
