
Dixie Lee Baker Lemley, 79, of Little River, S.C., formerly of Morgantown, went to her heavenly home on Jan. 30, 2023. She arrived in this world on May 4, 1943, to the proud parents of Vaughn Elliott and Violet Pauline Twigg Baker.
She attended University High School. She stayed home raising her three boys during their formative years before deciding to rejoin the workforce as a Nurse’s Aide at Sundale Nursing Home then at Madison House. She loved assisting people during their later years. Upon moving to South Carolina in 1994, she worked as a public area attendant at Tidewater Golf Club and Sands Resorts in Myrtle Beach, S.C. before retiring in 2007. She would tell story after story of the vacationing folks she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving and devoted husband, Charles Albert Lemley; her brother, Vaughn Baker Jr., sister-in-law, Ruth Baker, and brother-in- law, Harry Areford.
She is survived by her sons, Micheal Vaughn Lemley (Deni), of Buhl, Idaho, Charles Albert Lemley Jr. (Willow), of Bridgeport, Bryan Keith Lemley, of Little River, S.C.; her sister, Wanda Areford; and brother, Robert Baker (Sandy), both of Morgantown. She has four grandchildren: Devan Lemley (Sydney), Dean Lemley, Kali Burkett (Jesse) and Colton Mead. She also has three great-grandchildren, Memphis, Mak and Gus Lemley.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6. Visitation will continue at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 7 with Pastor Aaron Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
