Jerry Wiles

Jerry Scott Wiles (aka “The Enforcer”), 48, of Reedsville, formerly of Kingwood, Clarksburg and Terra Alta, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. Jerry is the son of Teddy T. Wiles Sr. and IDA M. Wiles of Albright, and the late Clara L. Shaffer Wiles, of Kingwood.

Jerry was born at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown on Sept. 14, 1974. He had a congenital heart defect, but never let it stop him from living life. He had a booming voice and loved joking with everyone. He loved fishing, building R.C. cars, playing video games, racing remote-control boats, and hunting. Jerry loved his large family with all his heart.

In addition to his father, Jerry is survived by his estranged-wife, Misty D. Wiles, of Clarksburg; brothers, Teddy T. Wiles Jr. (Carrie) of Grimesland, N.C., Joseph E. Sweeney, of Columbus, Ohio, and David A. Wiles, of Morgantown; sisters, Carolyn L. McLaughlin (Kenny), of Kingwood, Peggy A. Nwobu (Emman Sr.), of Maplewood, N.J., Tina L. Bolyard (Larry), of Masontown, Linda D. Queen (Lincoln) and Angela R. Jeffreys (D.J.), of Kingwood; and a half sister, Rosetta Lawson (Paul), of Bargersville, Indiana. Jerry was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. He is also survived by many uncles and aunts. Further, he was survived by his best friends, Travis McCrobie (Morgantown), and Anthony Fizer (Kingwood) — brothers from another mother.

To go along with Jerry’s personality and style, we are asking everyone to dress in T-shirts, jogging pants or blue jeans and a ball cap. Jerry wasn’t fond of “Monkey Suits.” Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Tunnelton.

In addition to his mother, Jerry was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents; a brother, Edward A. Wiles (2017); half sister, Rosemary Dotson; a brother-in-law, Robert J. Sweeney (2021); nephews, Jeremy S. Wiles (2000), David A. “Bucky” Wiles (2015) and Kirk Charles “K.C.” Blythe (2018); and a stepniece, Taylor R. Nicholson (2002).
Visitation will be at Kingwood Funeral Home, Kingwood, from 1-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, when services will be held with the Rev. Raymond Frankhouser officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Jerry’s name.
Kingwood Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wiles family.
