
Margaret DeProspero, age 92, of Reedsville, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born on July 26, 1930, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Yuhas) Takacs.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, Margaret worked as a seamstress in the Morgan Shirt Factory and together with her late husband were the proud owners of A. DeProspero and Son Powder Company, and the Austin Powder Company, which they operated for many years. She was a member of the St. Zita Catholic Church and Altar Society, Masontown Women’s Club and had served on the board of East Oak Grove Cemetery Association. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Edward (Vicki) Swiatek, of Morgantown, Mrs. Mark (Stephanie) Hill, of Kingwood, and Mrs. Michael (Suzette) Martini, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; five grandchildren: Craig Hill (Shelley), Keith Sheets, Morgan Martini, Chase Martini and Beth Swiatek; and three great-grandchildren: Ryder Hill, Reylan Hill and Kaiden Black.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Agostino “Junior” DeProspero in 1994; five brothers: Joseph, James, David, Alex and Elmer Takacs; and three sisters: Helen Takacs, Olga Henderson and Irene Wheeler.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and from noon-1 p.m., the time of funeral services on Thursday, Jan. 26, with Fr. Joy Raphal officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown.
