MORGANTOWN — Noah Braham won’t be the only Hawk heading to WVU next year as University High senior Jaeden Hammack announced on Twitter Thursday that he too will be joining the Mountaineer football team.
Hammack was an all-state selection at defensive back last season after he intercepted six passes for UHS, returning one for a pick-six. Also a standout wide receiver, Hammack led UHS with 67 receptions, 783 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He also carried the ball 12 times for 81 yards and another score.
Hammack will join WVU as a preferred walk-on next season. The Mountaineers first offered him as a preferred walk-on back in November of 2021. After receiving offers from several smaller-division schools, Hammack re-opened his recruitment at the end of December and decided on WVU Thursday. He has been to WVU several times over the last two years, including for junior day, a visit and a 7-on-7 camp.
Braham signed with WVU on national signing day last month and he and Hammack will not be the only former Hawks donning the Old Gold and Blue next season. Linebacker Donald Brandel and fullback Collin McBee will also be on the team after walking on and redshirting this season.
Hammack held offers from Fairmont State and Sacred Heart and also drew interest from Cincinnati and Penn.
