Mon Health System — with sponsorship from Steptoe & Johnson PLLC — welcomed the president and CEO of Hope Gas to north-central West Virginia Monday evening at Mon Health Medical Center.
The reception held for Morgan O’Brien brought out regional leaders to meet with him and welcome him to the area.
O’Brien is a native of Pittsburgh, raised in a blue collar Irish-Catholic family.
He has been CEO at Duquesne Light Co. and CEO at Peoples Gas serving Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.
O’Brien earned his college degrees from Robert Morris University.
Hope Gas recently announced its plans to purchase Peoples Gas WV, which also has customers in Monongalia County.
Hope Gas is a subsidiary of Hearthstone Holdings, a holding company that owns regulated natural gas and water distribution utilities in West Virginia and seven other states.
In September, Hearthstone finalized the acquisition of Hope Gas from Dominion Energy. Hearthstone’s vision for Hope Gas is to be a leader in the energy industry in the Mountain State and to empower and improve communities through the safe delivery of local, abundant and reliable energy. Hearthstone’s investment in West Virginia includes establishing its company headquarters in Morgantown.
