Leslie Flowers

Leslie Wayne Flowers Jr., 56, of Pursglove, passed away following an extended illness on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at the Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital. Leslie was born Oct. 17, 1966, in Baltimore, son to Barbara “Smokey” Smith, of Pursglove, and Leslie W Flower Sr.

Before his decline in health, Leslie worked for the Department of Energy as a custodian. He loved to swim and was a responsible caregiver for his younger brother and sister while growing up. He made sure they had everything they needed while their mom worked two and three jobs to provide for the family.

In addition to his mother Barbara, Leslie is survived by his stepfather, Gary Smith; siblings, Dawn Moore (Jesse), of Mannington, and Loel Flowers (Donna), of Pursglove; and stepbrothers, Bubby Smith (Heather) and Dub Smith, all of Morgantown. Also surviving is a special cousin and friend who spent a lot of time with Leslie over the years, Patricia Louk, of Baltimore; six nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; and numerous additional cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie W. Flowers Sr.

Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16 with the Rev. Dolly Sparks officiating. Leslie will rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
