Delmar Harley Hagedorn III, 52 of Kearneysville, passed away Dec. 23, 2022, unexpectedly from complications of diabetes at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson. He was born May 28, 1970, in Morgantown.
Delmar attended Alderson Broaddus and Shepherd College. He worked in management. He was a Jack of all trades and used his many talents to help family, friends and his community. He often came by to fix things or lend a hand. His knowledge and first-hand experience in accommodations for individuals with disabilities was vital to the Martinsburg’s Office of Catholic Charities renovation, in which they installed a handicap accessible shower that would be used by homeless members of the community.
He loved theater and performed in several local productions at the Apollo in Martinsburg, The Old Opera House in Charles Town and the Rude Mechanicals at Shepherd University. His favorite production was his wedding to Kathrina, which was held on stage at the Apollo theater. Delmar adored his family and valued time spent with them. He was an amazing cook and baker. He enjoyed movies, trivia and learning. He enjoyed tinkering with new ideas and projects. We will miss his entertaining stories and mellow baritone.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathrina Greene Hagedorn and two children, Delmar Hagedorn IV and Reanna Hagedorn, of Kearneysville. Also surviving is his father, Delmar Hagedorn Jr., of Morgantown; mother and father-in-law, Lorrie and Charlie Greene, of Bradley, Ohio; a sister, Vicky Hagedorn and Albert Mays, of Masontown; sister-in-law, Janniene and Raymond Hubert and family, of Newark, Ohio; brother-in-law, Eric and Stacey Greene and family of Caline, Texas and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Hannahlore Rose Hagedorn; his mother, Rosa Adams Hagedorn; sister, Lisa Hagedorn Splear, and grandparents, Delmar and Myrtle Hagedorn and Cyrus and Rose Uphold.
According to Delmar’s wishes, cremation services were entrusted to Field Funeral Home in Masontown. A celebration of life will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Arthurdale, from 4-6 p.m. on May 28, 2023.
