Jane Smyth

Jane Arlene Hetrick Smyth, 84, passed peacefully with family by her side following a long illness at the Madison Center in Morgantown. Jane was born in National, on May 13, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth Hetrick and Lillian Kelly Hetrick Lewis.

Jane was a homemaker for many years and worked hard keeping her family clothed, fed and happy.
She was a Christian by faith.

Survivors include her children, Keith Smyth, of Grant Town, Walter Smyth Jr., of Morgantown, Charlene Smyth, of Bridgeport, Arlene Poling (David), of Green River, Wyo. and Cynthia Braham (Freddie), of Morgantown; sister-in-law Adele Hetrick, of Morgantown; and two brothers-in-law, Clifford Powers, of Morgantown and John “Mike” Wilburn, of Maryland.

Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Roger Braham and Allen Poling, Jackie Shipley and Jeremy Sakacsi; and great- and great-great-grandchildren, John, Ceirra, Lauren, Paige, Tanner, Emily, Zoe, Chelsea, Jack, Kyle, Brooklyn, Rebekka, Jordann and Adylline.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walter “Buster” Smyth; stepfather, Earl Lewis; two sisters, Elaine Powers and Loretta Pratt; brothers, Timothy, Darrel and Dale Hetrick; granddaughter, Brandi Braham; and daughter-in-law Melinda Smyth.

Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 12, and again from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. She will rest beside her husband at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
