Sierra S. Lanham, 81, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Ga.
She was born in Amity, Pa., on Jan. 22, 1941, a daughter of the late Charles and Loverna Dunn Swihart.
Survivors include her four children, Terry Lanham and his wife Patty, of Charleston, S.C., Douglas Lanham and wife Debra Bowers, of Morgantown, Cheryl Ward-Cruz and her husband Jim, of McDonough, Ga., and Brooke Fox and her husband Craig, of Uniontown, Pa.; 11 grandchildren Jayme Isett, Jodi Lanham, Jessica Lanham, Ashton “Chad” Lanham, Nicholas Lanham, Cameron Lanham, Craig Lanham, Brieanne Beabout, Charles Racy Ward, Faith Ward and Nicole Smith; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph “Sonny” Swihart, Loverna Gilbert, Richard Swihart, Phyllis Squires and John Swihart.
Sierra worked at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown for 33 years and was a well known waitress there. She was a caring and loving mother and always made it a point to participate in whatever her children were involved with. She was known to make great pepperoni rolls and cinnamon rolls. Sierra was a hardworking lady who enjoyed a nice yard and the work that she put into it. Sierra enjoyed traveling until her health no longer permitted it.
Friends may join the family to honor Sierra’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and again from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Thursday, Jan. 12 officiated by Pastor Charles Bowers. Interment will follow at Mount Union Cemetery in Morgantown.
