Shirley Sue “Susie” Tennant, 82, of Daybrook, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, in the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.
She was born June 16, 1940, at Jollytown, Pa., a daughter of the late Burl Tennant and Wilma Ruth Lemmon Tennant. Susie was raised by her maternal grandparents, Abe and Maude Kerr Lemmon, from the age of 5.
Susie formerly attended the Bethel Church at Pine Bank, Pa. In her early life, she was a babysitter for many children.
Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Nelson Tennant; two sons and their spouses, Terry Tennant and his wife Barb and Randy Tennant and his wife Connie; one brother, Burl “Sonny” Tennant and his wife Mabel; stepmother, Leona Tennant; half-sisters, Sharon Walsh and her husband Chuck, Sandy Thomas and her husband Bob, Barbara Kelly and Rita Tennant; half-brother, Jeffery Tennant and his wife Mary; grandchildren, Randy Tennant, Anthony Tennant, Amanda White and her husband Scott, Jeremy Tennant and his wife Autumn and Rebekah Tennant; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmie Tennant; one sister, Alma Temple; one half-sister, Judy Smith; one sister-in-law, Pat Tennant; and one brother-in-law, Albert Temple.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Freddie Eddy II officiating. Interment will follow in the Betty Cook Cemetery at Daybrook.
