The Walmart located off of 4-H Camp/Hornbeck Road was evacuated Tuesday morning for a gas leak.
Walmart communications spokesperson Stephanie Sharp told The Dominion Post there was a minor gas leak detected in the store, which was evacuated for safety while fire crews checked the building.
Sharp said employees were able to return to work within 20 minutes of the evacuation and customers were able to return to their shopping about 10 minutes after that.
Hope Gas spokesperson Christine Mitchell said their company was called to shut off the gas to the store at the meter, but could not comment on the cause or nature of the leak as it involved an internal line in the building.
Mitchell said the company had not been called back out to turn the meter back on, but will do so once they have been informed the line has been repaired.
According to Sharp, the leak should be repaired by Wednesday morning.
