
Denzil Willard Tennant, 89, of Westover, passed away at his home Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, under the care of nurses from Morgantown Hospice and caregivers from Home Instead. He was the son of the late Ralph C. Tennant and Mary Henderson Tennant, of Core.
Denzil was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a corporal during the Korean War. He was best known as the owner of Denzil’s Auto Body in Westover, which he started in 1984 and operated until his retirement. He was quick with a joke and enjoyed watching Steelers and WVU football.
Denzil was also preceded in death by Anna Belle Tennant, his wife of 66 years, and his older sister, Margaret Jane Stout, of Morgantown.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Tennant and wife Diane, of Milwaukee, and Howard Tennant and wife Wilma, of New Braunfels, Texas. He had four grandchildren, Sean Tennant and wife Ashley Stone, of Richmond, Va.; Erin and husband Cameron Edmondson, of Milwaukee; Travis and wife Brynna, of Amarillo, Texas; Casey and wife Tori, of New Braunfels, Texas; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Leroy Tennant and Rose Malott, of Core.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Home Instead and Morgantown Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to him in his final years.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, with Pastor Craig Moore officiating. Denzil will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens following the service.
