Juliette Madden

Juliette Giacomini Madden, 93, of Sandy Hook, Va., formerly, of Morgantown, for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022.

Juliette was born July 23, 1929 in Eynon, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Francesca (Puletti) Giacomini.

As a child, she studied Latin and the violin, then went on to graduate from beauty college in Scranton, Pa. She was fluent in Italian and her delicious Italian nut rolls and pizzelle will be missed by all. Julie was a wonderful mother, outstanding grandmother and great-grandmother and loving friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (William) DeBerry, of Charlotte, N.C., Donna (Ernie) Colsmann, of Morgantown, and Francy Hoff, of Charlotte, N.C.; son, James Donald (Janet) Madden II, of Sandy Hook, Va.; and her seven honey bunnies, Matthew DeBerry, Lindsay (Jose) Mendes, Mackenzie (Eric) Veugeler, Mallory (Jason) Colsmann, Katie (Andrew) Hudson, Kristina Hoff Ph.D. and John (Jessica) Hoff. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Caroline Mendes, Gage, Mason and Mila Veugeler, Olivia and Aubrey Pell, David, Jacob Hoff and Alexander Hudson, due in March 2023. She is also survived by sisters, Sestine Avaltrony and Diane Moynihan and brother, Harold Giacomini.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Donald (Don) Madden in November 2000; her twin brother, Romeo Giacomini; three sisters; four older brothers; and son-in-law, David Hoff.

Friends and family will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Visitation will continue at the church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant. There will be an interment at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
