Sommer Raynell Jefferson, 25, of Birch River and formerly of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Morgantown on July 22, 1997, a daughter of Louis Thomas Jefferson III and Judith Barnett Deculit.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her three children, Scarlette, Jameson and Jaxson; her life partner, Hayward “Jake” McCauley; her siblings, Rick Cralton (Carrie), Sade Deculit, Tanicia Bagley, Makayln Jefferson, Haleigh Jefferson and Liam Jefferson and Cierra Riggleman; her grandparents, Mary Grosselin and Margaret Jefferson; and several nieces, nephews, other close family members and many friends.
Sommer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank Barnett and Woody Watkins.
Sommer was a 2015 graduate of Morgantown High School and was employed as a CNA with Sundale Nursing Home. She was a loving and attentive mother and very good with children.
As she spent much of her life helping others, it is only fitting that she continues to do so now in death by becoming an organ donor and allowing her spirit to live on through many others.
Friends may join the family to honor Sommer’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 11 a.m. until the time of the homegoing service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, officiated by Pastor Gwen McKinley. Following the funeral service, and at Sommer’s request, she will be cremated.
Contributions to assist the family with her final expenses may be made directly to Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, either at their website, www.smithfcc.com, or by calling 304-292-9494.
