Genevieve Pearl Lewis Ruckle Walker, 95, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 1, 2023. Pearl was born Aug. 11, 1927, to Luther and Lydia Ethel Lewis in Westover.
After graduating from University High School in 1945, she married Shelby Howard Ruckle, and together they had three children. She later married Harry Burnett Walker and they moved to Jakes Run in 1959.
Pearl was an avid quilter, which was a skill passed down to her by her mother. Pearl made many quilts for friends and family over the years. She enjoyed word search puzzles and playing games on the computer until her death.
She is survived by one sister, Eleanor Runyon, of Ohio; and three children, George Howard Ruckle, David Paul Ruckle and Karen Grimm. Pearl was blessed with seven grandchildren, Kevin Ruckle, Charlene Cliborne, Craig Snyder, Amber Uphold, Susan Ruckle, Jennifer Blosser and Donna Richards; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and her niece, Carolyn Pyles and friend Norma Jean Noakes, with whom she enjoyed many long conversations on the phone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Shelby Howard Ruckle; her second husband, Harry Burnett Walker; brothers, Cecil Paul Lewis, William Earl Lewis and Melvin Claude Lewis; and one sister, Evelyn Ruth Kelley.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4 with Pastor Lawrence Rebelo officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
