Courtney Lynn Harmon, 26, of Morgantown, and formerly of Savannah, Ga., passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following a short but valiant battle with cancer.
Born May 8, 1996, in Jacksonville, Fla., she was a daughter of the late Carmen Julie Williams.
Courtney is survived by her adoptive mother, Lindsay Rowe, of Morgantown, as well as many special friends, and the children that she mentored at Mon County YTS.
Courtney was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. She had a bachelor’s degree in social work. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and coloring. She spent the majority of her time mentoring children who otherwise would have no other place to call home. Courtney was their constant and their safe space.
Friends may join the family to honor Courtney’s life and legacy with a memorial gathering at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6.
Because of her love of hoodies, everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear vibrant colors, and if you wear a hoodie, it’s a big bonus .
