
Jennings Walter “Sonny” Isner, 77, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at home with family by his side.
He was born in Taylor County, on Dec. 25, 1944, a son of the late Clyde and Helen Rachel Ann (Sheets) Isner.
He was employed by Bird Loading in Maidsville as an equipment operator and worked as a fuel truck driver for Delaney Oil in Morgantown.
Walter is survived by two sons, Walter Isner, of Morgantown, and David and wife Melissa Isner, of Grafton; one daughter, Marie and husband Ricky Ross, of Grafton; one brother, Gary Isner, of Independence; one sister, Wilma Massey, of Independence; four grandchildren, Sarah Isner, Hannah and husband Joseph Cook, Emilee Isner and Ava Palen; and one great-grandchild, Jace Cook.
Along with his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret L. Isner and sister, Helen L. Isner.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, with Pastor Kelly Gamble officiating. Interment will follow at Gladesville Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Walmart Pharmacy for going above and beyond to ensure that Walter had the medicines he needed. They would also like to extend a special thank you to WV Caring for the care provided, lending a listening ear for his many stories and having an understanding heart.
