Donald “Don” Ray Rose, 61, of Core, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Donald was born in Morgantown on Jan. 3, 1961, to the late Donald Sr. and Jane Rose.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kim Rose; daughter, Amber Rose-Thorne (Justin), of Morgantown; son, Travis (Stacey) Rose, of Core; one brother, Gary Rose, of Fairmont; and his beloved grandchildren, Landen and Zoey Thorne and Dayton and Cason Rose.
Donnie, as he was known to most of his friends and family, started his career as an automotive mechanic but retired as a surface electrician/fan attendant in the mines. He served for more than 40 years. He was a proud UMWA member and attended the Jakes Run Assembly of God.
He was often found at his grandson’s sporting events, sitting quietly but keeping stats as a proud pap would. He couldn’t have been any prouder of his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were both of his parents and his loving mother-in-law, Thelma (Jean) McCabe.
Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating.
