Marvin Larew

Marvin Larew, 83, of Wadestown, passed away at his residence on Dec. 8, 2022. He was born in Newburg, to the late Kenneth Larew and Frances Cassidy Larew on Aug. 30, 1939.

He delighted in telling people that he was born in Possum Hollow on Racoon Creek.

Marvin was a 1957 graduate of Newburg High School. He worked in hand load mines as a teenager for his father and his Uncle Bill. In his later years he was a survey party chief for the State of West Virginia Department of Highways for 11 years. He retired from Loveridge Mine in 1994, where he was a member of the Mine Rescue Squad doing recovery missions at the #9 and Blacksville #1, and then later he worked as a boss.

Mr. Larew was a member of the West Warren Baptist Church of Wadestown.
In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Taylor Larew. Also surviving are daughters, Debra Keene (Will), of Thornton, Vicki Pearson (Ken), of Fairmont; son, Steve Larew; stepdaughters, Christina Rice (Jason), of Enterprise, and Charity Willard (Chris), of Wadestown; sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and John Channel, of Clarksburg; sister-in-law, Kitty Larew, of Lake Lynn, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Lambert; brother-in-law, Bill Lambert; and a brother, Gary Larew.

At the request of the deceased, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be hel in the West Warren Baptist Church in Wadestown, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18 with Pastor Bob Scharnhorst officiating.
