
Opal Louise Pompili, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 1, 2022 at her home.
She was born in Wellsburg, on July 29, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Lillie Mae Leidy Brown.
Mrs. Pompili is survived by her five children and daughter-in-law, Kaye Pompili (wife to the late Alfonso Louis Pompili Jr.), Paul Allen Pompili (Judy), Paulette Hefflinger (James), Loraine Simpson (Brad), Cynthia Brooks (Rod) and James Pompili (Donna); 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Louis Pompili Sr.; two sons, Alfonso Louis Pompili Jr. and Craig Allen Pompili; and five siblings, James, Bill, Rudy and Charles Brown and Margaret Miller, making her the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Opal was previously employed by Chico Dairy where she met her late husband of 65 years. She was an awesome mother to her six children, and a very devoted member of the former St. Theresa’s Parish, which later became St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
At her request, Mrs. Pompili has been cremated and a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the late spring of 2023 at St. Francis de Sale Catholic Church. She and her husband will then be inurned together at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens following the Funeral Mass.
