Michael B. Rice, 46, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, in Frederick, Md. Born on Dec. 18, 1975, in Austin, Texas, Mike spent most of his childhood in Morgantown and graduated from Morgantown High before attending WVU, where he studied landscape architecture.
Mike was raised in the Church of Christ and had many great friends and lasting memories of all of those years. He will always be remembered as someone so full of life and with a loving and generous heart. Mike enjoyed music, playing drums, painting and, most of all, his friends and family.
Mike is survived by his mom, Linda Cornell Rice, and his other special mom, Gay Coates, both of Harpers Ferry, and by his father, Fred E. Rice, of Dania, Fla.; his brother, Jeff Rice, of Huntington; and also surviving him are very special caregivers, Jena Dickson and Shannon Unruh, as well as many other facilitators from Sheppard Pratt, all of Frederick, Md. Mike has many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless wonderful friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Percy and Mary Cornell of Fairmont, and Clarence and Wanda Rice, of Middlebourne.
The family received friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Md. from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. Friends will also be received from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. A celebration of Mike’s life journey will take place at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, Md. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. A private burial will be held at Beverly Hills Cemetery in Morgantown.
