
Louella Mae Bolyard, 78, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at Morgantown Heath and Rehab. Mae, as her family knew her, was born to the late Homer C. McGilton and Lucy Ellen Croston-McGilton on Oct. 22, 1944.
Mae was a hard worker and truly enjoyed helping people. She worked as a waitress at the Academy Restaurant that was on High Street, then went on to be a cook at Scotts Run Settlement House, as well as a custodian for WVU Hospitals.
Mae was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Chiefs and especially WVU football.
In addition to her to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald Eugene Bolyard and her son, Willard L. Layman III, as well as two sisters and six brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Rashott “Princess” and husband Joe, of Lampasas, Texas; a stepson, Donald Brand and wife Karen, of Clarksburg; a sister, Barbara Tennant, of Cassville; two brothers, Ronnie McGilton and wife Diana, of Independence; and Roger McGilton and wife Diana, of Morgantown; as well as six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and her companion dog, Willie.
Family would like to thank Morgantown Health and Rehab for all their support and hard work at keeping Miss Mae happy and comfortable during her time at their facility.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, with Pastor Tonya Orr officiating. Mae will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Bethel Cemetery.
