Richard Arlen Covert, 73, of Hudson passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born May 12, 1949, in Morgantown, to the late Francis “Dean” Marion Covert and Freda Olive Pritt Covert. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley “Wayne” Pritt and William “Bill” Covert.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Mitcham Covert, of the home; one son, Barry Dean Covert of Chapel Hill, N.C.; one daughter, Kelly Dawn Miller and husband Eric of Hudson; three brothers, Pete Pritt of Morgantown, Larry Covert (Pat Wells) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert Covert (Rosario) of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Paula Martin of Kingburg, Calif., Carol Williams (Allen) of Katy, Texas, Linda Martin (Alex) of Morgantown, and Sandra Lear (David Chisler) of Morgantown; two beloved “adopted” grandchildren, Catherine Paige Huggins and Michael David Huggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Larry Puett. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
