Barbara Jean Bice, 76, of Fairmont, passed away at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, with her family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey Guy Johnson and Vivian Evelyn Twigg Johnson; one sister, Margaret Johnson; and a stepdaughter, Melinda Adams.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, William Bice; two daughters, Donna Wilhelm and Vivian (Michael) Neely; five stepchildren, Bonnie Shaffer, Vickie Govine, Timothy Wilhelm, Tom Bice and Billy Bice; three brothers, Ronald, Albert and Allen Johnson; three sisters, Suzy Johnson, Gracie Donaldson and Dottie Kimball; and 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Barbara spent many years working in retail sales until she was able to retire. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidering, reading and antiquing for “treasures.” Her family referred to her as a truly selfless woman. She was very giving of her time and love. She had a strong appreciation for her country and the armed forces.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. Barbara will be laid to rest amongst family at Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
