Tonja Michelle Lake (Dobbs), 63, gained her angel wings at home, surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 1, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Feb. 26, 1959, in Morgantown, daughter to the late Allen “Cocky” and Conzolla Frances “Nanny” Dobbs.
Tonja’s greatest joy was raising her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She especially enjoyed her role as “Grandma.” Tonja had a very warm, vivacious, yet sassy personality and made friends everywhere she went. She was thoughtful and caring and opened her home to anyone in need. All who knew her knew she was an avid football fan and could always be found cheering on her beloved “Mountaineers.” She enjoyed playing Bingo and taking trips to the casino with her friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Tonja was preceded in death by the love of her life, ex-husband of 29 years, Terry Wayne Lake Sr.; brother, Allen Dobbs Jr.; sister, Kim Dobbs; and her beloved dog, Angel.
Left to cherish her memories are her three children, Damia Dobbs, Jason Dobbs and Terry Lake Jr.; sisters, Marquita Dobbs, Crystal Hughes and Jennifer Tucker; grandchildren, Jackson, Jaiden, Brenton, Janiyah, Jiovanna and Kielandra Dobbs and Mateo Lake; and a host of many other children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
You may have only stayed a moment, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, with her aunt, the Rev. Claudette Dale officiating. Friends and family will be received starting at 1 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home.
