Donald Haskiell

Donald William “Bill” Haskiell, 84, of Tunnelton, died on Oct. 27, 2022, at Stonerise in Kingwood, with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born on Aug. 9, 1938, a son of the late George and Georgia McCrobie Haskiell.

He began working in the coal mines on his 18th birthday, and was a coal miner for 39 years. He worked his last years of employment at Island Creek and Consol coal companies. He was a proud member of the UMWA. He was a great back yard mechanic and loved having family and friends visit him in his garage and helping them take care of their vehicles. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He was a loving husband, father and pappy. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. When he was 72 years old, his good friend, Bob Uphold, led him to the Lord and baptized him. He attended Kingwood Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Syruws) Haskiell; a daughter, Brenda Smith (Rick), of Kingwood; two sons, Dale Haskiell, of Morgantown, and Steve Haskiell, of Davis; grandchildren, Korte (Colton) Stuchell, Jordan (Julie) Smith, Kayla (Derek) Reckart, Meagan Haskiell and Tommy Shillingburg, Sierra Haskiell and Dylan Haskiell; great-grandchildren, Bella Bolyard, John Bendana III, Tucker and Clara Stuchell, Blake and Natalie Reckart, and Chasetin Haskiell; two sisters, Lottie Walter and Agnes Johnson; one brother, Joe Haskiell; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, Jim, John, Guy, George, Leo and Roger Haskiell; one sister, Beatrice Haskiell; and a granddaughter, Brittany Bendana.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295. S. Price St., Kingwood, from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, and at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31 with Pastor Charles Warger officiating. Interment will follow in the Camp Ground Cemetery.
