Scott’s Run Settlement House (SRSH) is holding a community celebration of 100 years of service in Monongalia County on Nov. 5 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown.
This event will recognize the rich history of SRSH, the current programs helping county residents and plans for the next 100 years.
“We are honored to have served the Scott’s Run area and Monongalia County since 1922. said Executive Director Michael Richard.
SRSH’s 100-year celebration is open to the public and anyone who has been a part of the Settlement House or been helped by the organization.
Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 N. High St., Morgantown, played its own part in the history of SRSH.
“Since the founding of [the settlement house] by a group local Methodist women from Wesley UMC, we have been called to be a place to turn for those needing help.” Richard said.
Individuals are encouraged to reach out before the event if they have any pictures or history of SRSH they would like to share as part of the celebration. Those attending are also asked to consider bringing a non-perishable food item for the food pantry.
Parking will be available on site.
SRSH, 41 Lady Bug Lane, Osage, serves individuals and families in Monongalia County by providing basic necessities with kindness, dignity and respect.
Programs include a food pantry, food for seniors, food for school children, a baby pantry and home repair help.
