
Franklin W. Phillips, 82, of Terra Alta, died Thursday Oct. 20, 2022, at his home.
The son of the late John Wayne and Sarah Ellen Powell Phillips, he was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Rodamer.
Frank was the foreman for the Fairfax County Parks and Recreation until his retirement in 1995. He and his wife returned to Preston County and enjoyed 27 years of retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Terra Alta Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Lou Sypolt Phillips; a daughter and spouse, Tammela Phillips (Greg) Brown, of Franklin, Ga.; a son and spouse, David Allen (Stephanie) Phillips, of Front Royal, Va.; a brother and spouse, Charles H. (Patricia “Patty”) Phillips, of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren, Erica, Kyle and Christopher Phillips, Joey (Katie), Matthew (Emily) and Kayla Neidigh, and Chad (Erica) and Zack Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Makenzie, Kolson, Layla, Madie Rae, Lane and Maddux; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby S. Beatty and Grace B. Weter, and a brother, Ronald E. Phillips.
Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. time of service on Sunday, Oct. 23. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
