Patricia W. “Pat” Berry, 78, of Morgantown, and formerly of Charleston, passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center. Pat was born on March 16, 1944, daughter of the late William S. Weaver and Genevieve C. Weaver, of Weston.
She met the love of her life, Bruce L. Berry, to whom she was married for 58 years, during high school. She graduated from Weston High School in 1962.
After graduation, Pat worked at WVU Student Health Services and the WVU Department of Cardiology assisting her husband, Bruce, in completing his formal education. She served as the financial bookkeeper for his medical practice in Charleston, for 12 years while raising their two children. As a member of the Charleston Junior League, Pat was particularly proud of her volunteer work with the Kids on the Block program. The mission of Kids on the Block is to teach children acceptance of differences in themselves and others through puppetry. In 2000, Pat and Bruce moved from Charleston to Morgantown so that they could be closer to family and assist in raising their grandchildren. Pat enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her mother and father, Pat was preceded in death by two brothers, William D. Weaver and David L. Weaver, and sister Martha S. Weaver. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; son, Kevin B. Berry and wife Katie S. Berry; daughter, Heather E. Bahneman and husband Matthew C. Bahneman; grandchildren Andrew K. Berry, Alison K. Berry and William C. “Cash” Bahneman; special sister-in-law, Thelma L. “Peggy” Weaver; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to express our deep appreciation to the incredible staff at Mon Health Medical Center, who have become members of their extended family, for the exemplary care provided to Pat.
Family and friends will be received at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown, from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the service at 3 p.m. The Rev. Kevin Cain will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the WVU Loyalty Permanent Endowment Scholarship Fund (https://www.alumni.wvu.edu/awards-scholarships/scholarships/lpef) or the West Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org/wv).
