Freddie Williams

Freddie Wayne “Chug” Williams, 90, of Miracle Run Community died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at his residence.

He was born May 2, 1932, at Daybrook, a son of the late James Williams and Celesta Olive Tennant Williams.

Chug formerly worked on computers and has last worked as a coal miner. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was a member of the Miracle Run United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife, Norma Simpson Williams; two sons and their spouses, David and Cheryl Williams and Mark and Debbie Williams, all of Miracle Run; one son-in-law, Roger Swanson, of Miracle Run; six grandchildren, Chad Swanson, Eric Swanson, Davy (Chasity) Williams, Chelsa (Josh) Rockwell, Ashley (Greg) Hunt and Adam Williams; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Theresa Swanson; and 11 siblings, Lincoln Burl Williams, Amanda Ellen Gump, Suda Mae Smith, Mary Elizabeth Henderson, Gearl D. Williams, James Everett Williams, Betty Catherine Lyons, Mabel Lucille McAfee, Roxie Phyllis Tennant, William Richard Williams and Doris Jane Wheeler.

The family would like to give a big “Thank You” to Chug and Norma’s caregivers, Charleen Moats, Jerry Rowan, Phyllis Brooks and Ashley Sperandio.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21. A graveside service will be held the Core Cemetery at Bula at 1 p.m. on Saturday at with Pastor John Brosky officiating. Entombment will follow in the Core Cemetery.
