
Doris M. Ernest, 84, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away at the home of her son in Morgantown, following a lengthy illness. Born in Morgantown on Jan. 15, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Willie E. and Wilma Mae (Rushford) Cain.
A Methodist by faith, Doris was a 1955 graduate of Morgantown High School and was retired from the West Virginia University Post Office.
Surviving are her two children and their spouses, Doug and Jennifer Ernest, of Morgantown, and Debra and Dennis McNamara, of McMurray, Pa.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly; and a brother, Bill Cain, of Salisbury, Md.
Her husband, John Ernest Jr., passed away in September of 2004. Also deceased is her sister, Shirley Butterworth; her brothers, Richard Cain and George Cain; and a great-grandson, Patrick McNamara.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. hour of service on Thursday, with the Rev. French Jenkins officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be offered in Doris’s name to the WVU Cancer Institute, supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Fund, #2R434.
