Marine Corps ball set for Nov. 5

The 247th Marine Corps Birthday Ball, hosted by Earl Anderson MCL Detachment 342, is planned for Nov. 5 at the Monongalia County Readiness Center.

The Annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball is hosted by The Earl Anderson Marine Corps League. Det. 342 and has helped support veterans and family members in the community. The ceremony is open to all service members, veterans, their families and the community.

The evening begins with a social hour/cocktails at 5:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar.

The ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m. and will include remarks by guest of honor, Lt. Col. Kent Leonhardt, USMC, Ret., current West Virginia agriculture commissioner.

Dinner, catered by the Mason Jar, will be served at 7 p.m. There will be a choice of steak medallions, parmesan-crusted chicken and vegetarian black bean and lentil cake. Sides will be au gratin potatoes, Brussels sprouts, roasted vegetables, salad and dinner rolls.

There will be live music and dancing. The band will be announced later.

There will be door prizes and raffles.

There are just 150 tickets available. Cost is $40 per person, $75 per couple. Table sponsors will get eight seats for $500.

Special ticket prices for WVU student veterans are $25 per student, $50 per student couple.
