Mary Frances Fumich, 86, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Orlando and Sarah Castelli.
Mary enjoyed traveling and was always on the go. She liked going to Camp Shenandoah during her younger years. Her love of slot machines led her to be a tour guide on multiple bus tours to different casinos throughout the country. She also enjoyed going to NASCAR races, but her favorite place to visit was Myrtle Beach, S.C.
She was the matriarch of her family. She loved all animals, especially her cats. At home, she enjoyed cooking and her flower gardens. Anyone who knew Mary recognized her love for Polka music.
Mary is survived by two children, Steven Fumich and wife Deneen and Walter Fumich and wife Michelle; four grandchildren, Walter M. Fumich, Racheal Honsaker and husband Brandon, Jesse Petty and wife Jamie and Stephen C. Fumich; two step-grandchildren, Patrick Stalnaker and fiancé Jessica and Brianna Stalnaker; three great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Kendra Stalnaker and Lennon Petty; sisters-in-law, Ellen, Sandy and Sally; lifelong family friend, Eugene Cool; beloved fur babies, Theodore and Callie; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Fumich; brothers, Lee, Albert, Charles and William Castelli; and sister, Dolores Rowan.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to special nieces, Debbie and Sweet Pea for all of their care and support of Mary throughout the years, and also to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with Pastor Willard Rowan officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at East Oak Grove Cemetery, beside her husband.
