BUNKER HILL — No. 2 Morgantown lost a heartbreaker, its first loss of the season, at No. 6 Musselman on Friday night at MuHS.
With less than 20 seconds left, Applemen quarterback Bayden Hartman found Brayden Miller in the back of the end zone to give Musselman the lead at 34-33, followed by a 2-point conversion to make it 36-33.
The Mohigans took a shot at the end zone at the end of the game, but it was batted down as time expired as they fell to the same score.
MoHS (3-1) trailed most of the game, but quarterback Maddox Bowers was able to find Jacob Keir for a 77-yard touchdown late in the 4th quarter to give the Mohigans their first lead at 33-28.
But it was Hartman’s heroics at the end that put the Applemen out front for good.
The Mohigans had 429 yards of total offense, led by 130 yards on the ground by Cody Nutter. Keonn Mallett had 99 yards and two touchdowns rushing, while Keir led all receivers with two catches for 88 yards and a score.
Morgantown, which hasn’t played at home since Week 2, will be on the road against next week, traveling to Wheeling Park.
